Around 6:30 AM local time, tremors were felt in Nellore ...

people came running out of their buildings, and later returned to their daily tasks. The water started rising around 11 AM without any warning.

Three villages in Nellore district where APVVU (a partner of AID in AP)  has a presence have been badly damaged.  5 deaths confirmed in one village, and an unknown number of people missing, mainly fishermen.

Initially damage assessment and locating missing persons are the tasks at hand. Further information will be sent over the next few days.
