Page 27 of 37 We have already started work on several of the activities – this component will get into full steam in another month or two. -
We have started painting the blackboards in a few schools. We will soon do this in all the schools we are working with. -
We have started providing some of the resource kits and started the libraries in several schools (though not the full fledged kits). -
We did one science teacher training session in Koovathur with 30 school teachers and are planning with the government for a more systematic training program.  -
We have started the Demo class program in full – we have so far done more than 100 primary and science demo classes in the government schools in Koovathur and Kelambakkam. Apart from directly doing this program, we have also trained the volunteers of PAM who have done about 15 classes in Palaverkadu. We have recently provided training to several volunteers in Cuddalore who have started science demo classes in schools. -
The toy van program has also been started – we have done about 40 sessions so far. -
The science van program has not been formally started – but the chennai science van has been visiting the area and conducting several sessions regularly. -
We have established a very good rapport with the government balwadi teachers and they have been asking us to come regularly to help them with activity sessions and material support. Cluster Level Education Demonstration Programs Eureka Nursery and Primary School: Just a few days ago we had a foundation stone ceremony for the school at Koovathur! This school building construction is being supported by Banca Sella. The lab and library building for the school is being supported by WPP. This school is planned as a model that demonstrates activity based learning methods. The school is planned as a center which will work with all the government schools around to improve the quality of education.
